6 Passive exposure to cigarette smoke, other types of tobacco smoke (e.g., pipe, cigar, water pipe), 7–9 and marijuana 10 are also risk factors for COPD. Cigarette smokers have a higher prevalence of respiratory symptoms and lung function abnormalities, a greater annual rate FEV 1 decline and a greater COPD mortality rate than non-smokers 5 yet fewer than 50% of heavy smokers develop COPD. 4 Environmental Risk FactorsĬigarette smoking is a key environmental risk factor for COPD. Pathogenesis: Causes and Risk FactorsĬOPD results from dynamic, cumulative and repeated gene (G) – environment (E) interactions over the lifetime (T) that damage the lungs and/or alter their normal development/aging processes ( GETomics). GOLD 2023 defines COPD as a heterogeneous lung condition characterized by chronic respiratory symptoms (dyspnea, cough, expectoration and/or exacerbations) due to abnormalities of the airways (bronchitis, bronchiolitis) and/or alveoli (emphysema) that cause persistent, often progressive, airflow obstruction. 2 Accordingly, GOLD 2023 proposes a new definition of COPD that, at variance with previous documents, 3 focuses exclusively on these characteristics, separately from its epidemiology, causes, risk factors and diagnostic criteria that are discussed on their own. The definition of a disease should only include the characteristics that distinguishes it from other diseases. 1 Here, we present an executive summary of this GOLD 2023 report 1 that summarizes aspects that (a) are relevant from a clinician's perspective and (b) updates evidence published since the prior executive summary in 2017. 1 It contains important changes compared to earlier versions, and incorporates 387 new references. In July 2020, Binance announced a "strategic partnership" with a Chinese state-owned enterprise under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and that Binance had joined a group "aiming to facilitate" the Belt and Road Initiative. The statement noted that Binance "is not authorized by the MFSA to operate in the cryptocurrency sphere and is therefore not subject to regulatory oversight by the MFSA." The MFSA added that it was "assessing if Binance has any activities in Malta which may not fall within the realm of regulatory oversight." On 21 February 2020, the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) issued a public statement responding to media reports referring to Binance as a ' Malta-based' cryptocurrency company. In November 2019, Binance announced it was acquiring Indian bitcoin exchange WazirX, which became disputed in August 2022 when Binance founder Zhao claimed the deal was never signed. In September 2019, the exchange began offering perpetual futures contracts, allowing leverage as high as 125 times the value of the contracts. The site pledged to reimburse customers through its "Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU)". Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao said the hackers "used a variety of techniques, including phishing, viruses and other attacks" and structured their transaction "in a way that passed our existing security checks." Binance halted further withdrawals and deposits but allowed trading to continue. On, Binance revealed that it had been the victim of a "large scale security breach" in which hackers had stolen 7,000 Bitcoin worth around $40 million at the time. The purchases are subject to Simplex's local bank policies and are limited to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Ripple's XRP. And for the most part they are simply the evolution of traditional industries in the age of numerisation, that's why for instance AMD have Kinguin as official partners. In my books all of them (or at least Uber, G2A or Airbnb) are the same ugly face of contemporary capitalism - though I do consider ugly capitalism itself. They do provide a platform to use and connect individuals and they take their shitty cut for this. Practically G2A does the same job as Uber, AirBNB or even Ebay and Paypal. Regarding the first issue, there's no difference whether you sell your key via SG, privately to a friend or via G2A as long as you do resell your key (therefore the "moral" issue).Īs for the second, G2A is just one of the many companies that take profit from new age capitalism. The first is whether it's legitimate in general to resell your keys and the second one is if there's legitimate for G2A and co. Want to keep using shady sites? go ahead it's your money and you take the risk, but don't complain when something bad happens and we see an increase of these sites, because you know, when something "works" everyone wants their cut!Īctually there are two different things when it comes to gray market. You'll do what you will, but we have this great community here for a reason, if someone takes the time to inform the rest, to make suggestions and maybe even take blindfolds out of others then it's worth it. Heck, it's pretty much common knowledge many people buy the games they used to play back in the day, when they finally get a steady income and opportunity presents (good offers) itself there isn't really any excuse not to, anymore. I still value the work of developers and support them whenever I can. I've wanting to play Ori and the Blind Forest since pretty much every live typing person in here (even bots I may add XD) are talking how great it is! yet I refuse to pay full price because I know it went on sale for 5 bucks, like 3 times already, so I simply won't pay more than that but NEITHER will pirate it despite having that option and wanting to play it that much. If you cannot afford now then simply wait until decent sales, nice discounts or maybe even ask a friend to familyshare that game. TL DR: you cannot pirate anymore 9.5 out of 10 times. Second, Why would those not-shady-at-all sites would require an extra insurance, shield, whatever (that you have to pay extra, mind you) if they say they are completely safe and legit to use? hmm let's leave it at that. What I'm getting at? simple: you can't just pirate almost anything anymore unless it doesn't use Denuvo, even then, those who don't use it, deserve to be purchased cuz maybe they aren't that expensive and actually decent games, nothing AAA, bug prices (Dark Souls III Deluxe for about 80 cents, Mexican Steam store). Read the comments, seems to me that maybe some either didn't read the TinyBuild article in relation to g2a ( 1, 2, 3)nor know the existence of anti-tamper DRM Denuvo. In the aftermath of the attack, however, US officials said they had enough information to understand Zawahiri's "pattern of life" at the house - such as his balcony habit. Photo: Supplied US tracked Zawahiri's 'balcony habit'ĭetails are still emerging about what intelligence the US gathered before launching the Kabul strike. This handout image courtesy of Maxar Technologies released on Augand taken on Octoshows the builiding (L) in which Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri was probably located at the time of the strike that killed him in Kabul. Photos of his vehicle taken after the strike showed that the missile had cut a hole in the roof and shredded its occupants, but without signs of an explosion or any further destruction to the vehicle. In 2017, another al-Qaeda leader and one of Zawahiri's deputies, Abu Khayr al-Masri, was reportedly killed with an R9X Hellfire in Syria. In the case of the Zawahiri strike, it has been suggested, but not confirmed, that the US also used a relatively unknown version of the Hellfire - the R9X - which deploys six blades to slice through targets using its kinetic energy. "It sounds like they were very careful and deliberate in this instance to find him in a location and at a time when they could hit just him and not harm any other person," Prof Banks said. The Zawahiri strike, he added, "sounds like a model application" of the process. Professor William Banks, an expert on targeted killings and the founder of the Syracuse University Institute for Security Policy and Law, said that officials would have had to balance the risk of civilian deaths with the value of the target. In past US military or CIA strikes, this has included calling on military lawyers for consultations before the order to fire is given. There are clear, sequential procedures the crew operating the drone must follow before taking action, to minimise the risk of civilian casualties. Once the missile is fired, it follows the path of that laser until striking the target. Using a set of "targeting brackets" on the screen, the camera operator is then able to "lock up" the target and point a laser at it. When a missile is launched from a drone, a weapons operator - sometimes sitting in an air-conditioned control room as far away as the continental US - sees a live video stream of the target, which the drone's camera sensors feed back via satellite. The US is believed to have used Hellfires to kill Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad in early 2020, and the British-born Islamic State jihadist known as "Jihadi John" in Syria in 2015.Īmong the main reasons for the Hellfire's repeated use is its precision. The missile can be fired from a variety of platforms, including helicopters, ground vehicles, ships and fixed wing aircraft - or, in Zawahiri's case, from an unmanned drone. The type of missile used was key - and these were said by US officials to be drone-fired Hellfires - a type of air-to-surface missile that has become a fixture of US counter-terrorism operations overseas in the decades since the 11 September 2001 attacks.
